Learning to Give Myself Grace
This month has been one of the hardest I've faced in a long time. As I write this, I'm in the hospital with a bladder infection. My depression has been heavy too. Some days everything feels heavier than usual. But even then, I've been looking for small reminders that there is still hope. Christian music has been one of those reminders. When I hear those songs, I'm reminded that my story isn't over yet. I'm not six feet under. The music gives me strength to keep going. Through this experience, I've learned something important. I need to be more patient with myself. I've spent so much time focusing on building my career and worrying about what I should accomplish that I sometimes forget to take care of myself. I'm learning that resting isn't giving up, and slowing down doesn't mean I'm failing. I'm also incredibly grateful for my friends, my family, and my aides. Without their support and encouragement, I might not have made it to the hospital when I needed care. Their kindness has reminded me that none of us has to face life's hardest moments alone. I'm choosing patience. I'm choosing to keep fighting. Even when progress feels slow, I'm reminding myself that every step forward matters. If you're walking through something heavy right now, remember to give yourself grace. Even if it's messy, even if it's slow, that grace counts. Keep believing that tomorrow can be better than today. You're stronger than you may realize, and one step at a time, you can keep moving forward.
