When the Darkness Felt Louder Than My Voice

When I started writing this blog, I promised myself I wouldn't sugarcoat it. If I was going to share this journey, I was going to share all of it. And I'm okay. I'm not writing because I'm giving up. I'm writing because for the past couple months, it felt like I was walking through darkness, and I'm finally starting to see a little bit of light again. I lost my food stamps, and I'm in the middle of an SSI appeal. So it's heavy. There were days I seriously thought about giving up on my business. Not because I stopped believing in it, but because the stress felt relentless. Then I kept remembering something my dad always told me. "We Heislers don't quit. We adapt." And that line keeps echoing. Social media makes it look like everyone has it figured out. That's not me. Some days I need a friend to tell me everything will be okay. Other days I need someone to tell me to get out of my head and keep moving. Both kinds of friends matter. My faith has carried me through worse seasons than this one. Even when I couldn't see the light, I never completely lost hope that it was still there. I'm still learning, still adapting, still fighting. This chapter isn't the ending of my story. It's one of the hardest chapters I've had to write. And if you're walking through your own darkness, I hope you keep moving. Sometimes the light starts with just one step.
